The "Mighty Mouse" also known as "The Captain" Jimmy Alapag joins Staying MAJOR for episode 8. In this episode, host Eric Menk asks Jimmy about his upbringing in southern California. From a 4'9" 100lb. 9th grader, Jimmy worked relentlessly to gain a college basketball scholarship to play at Cal-State Bernardino. There he led their team to the Elite 8 as a junior and was named All-West Region as a senior. Jimmy then enlightens his fans with an inside look at his PBA career at Talk-N-Text. Despite his small stature, Jimmy overcame the odds to have had one of the most memorable careers in modern PBA history. After leading the Talk-N-Text franchise to 6 PBA titles (5 All-Filipino titles), being named Rookie of the Year, League MVP, Finals MVP & a member of the PBA's 40 Greatest Players, Jimmy became a national hero with his play while representing the Philippines in international competition. His 3-point shot late in the semi-finals of FIBA-Asia against S. Korea helped book the Philippines a spot in the 2014 World Cup of Basketball. There, he captained the team and poured in 18 points to help the Philippines secure their first win on the global stage in 40 years! Jimmy recently broke the PBA's all-time 3-point record, while playing his last year for the Meralco Bolts. Now retired from playing, Alapag serves as an assistant coach for the Meralco Bolts and the Gilas program, which represents the Philippines in international basketball competitions. PBA Rush game analyst & basketball coach Charles Tiu joins Staying MAJOR's 7th episode. Despite being so young, Charles has vast experience in both coaching the game of basketball and analyzing the game on television. Charles began his coaching career assisting Rajko Toroman on the Philippine national team's, Gilas program from 2009-2011. From there, Charles assisted PBA professional teams Powerade and Barako Bull. Most recently, Charles was the head coach for the Mighty Sports team who represented the Philippines, winning the 2016 Jones Cup and finished 2nd in the 2016 Merlion Cup. Charles is currently an assistant coach at St. Benilde who competes in the NCAA. In this episode, Charles discusses his basketball background while also giving his expert analysis on the current PBA. After having a legendary collegiate career for the Ateneo Blue Eagles, JC joined the PBA as the #4 pick in the 2007 PBA Draft. Blessed with great agility, grace, and athletic ability JC has played on the PBA courts for the last 10 years. He had a memorable 3-year stint with Ginebra. He also helped B-Meg win a championship in the 2012 Commissioner's Cup and also represented the Philippines for Gilas Pilipinas at the 2015 FIBA-Asia tournament. Despite setbacks with illnesses and injury, JC is now one of the cornerstones of the Phoenix franchise.
